ExxonMobil's $1 Billion Usan Project Aims for 40,000 bpd Oil Output Boost
Nigerian affiliate of ExxonMobil, Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (Offshore East) Limited, has announced the arrival of a crucial ultra-deepwater drillship in Nigerian waters. The Noble Gerry de Souza marked a major milestone for the company's Usan Infill Project.
The project involves additional drilling to unlock value from the Usan Field and is expected to deliver up to 40,000 barrels per day (bpd) of incremental oil production within 18 months. This contribution will help Nigeria's energy security and economic development.
The $1 billion investment in the Usan Infill Project demonstrates Esso's confidence in Nigeria's improving investment environment. Chairman Jagir Baxi emphasized the company's focus on delivering short-cycle deepwater production growth through disciplined investment, technology deployment, and operational excellence.
