FAO Food Price Index Surges on Higher Cereal Prices
The FAO Food Price Index (FFPI) rose to 136.0 points in September, up 2.0 points from its revised August level, with a year-over-year increase of 7.4 points or 5.8 percent.
The index is now 24.3 points or 15.1 percent below its peak in March 2022.
The FAO Cereal Price Index increased by 6.0 points to 122.8, a 17.2 percent rise from September 2025, driven mainly by higher world wheat prices due to logistical constraints in the Black Sea region and dry weather conditions in North America ahead of winter wheat planting.
The FAO All Rice Price Index rose by 1.4 percent in September as Indica quotations increased amid weather concerns and seasonally tighter supplies.
