FireFly Metals Secures Funding for Green Bay Project Advancement
FireFly Metals (ASX:FFM) has completed a significant capital raising, including a retail share purchase plan that closed in late September. The proceeds will fund early works, underground drilling, regional exploration, and feasibility studies at its Green Bay project in Newfoundland, Canada. The company has described itself as "very well funded" for the current phase of development.
The funds will support underground development for drilling platforms, ventilation upgrades, and surface preparation. A large portion will also go toward underground drilling to upgrade resources and explore new targets. Technical studies, including a definitive feasibility study and a pre-feasibility study, are also part of the plan.
While the equity raised covers the current phase, FireFly will need additional financing for full construction. The project includes the Ming deposit, a former underground copper mine, and the nearby Little Deer deposit, both hosting significant copper-equivalent resources. A preliminary economic assessment in August outlined a high-grade, low-cost operation with substantial annual copper output potential.
The capital raising comes as copper prices face pressure from Chinese demand concerns and a stronger US dollar. However, FireFly's share price has lagged the metal earlier in the year, and the completed raising removes one of the uncertainties related to development risk and dilution.
