Florida Gas Prices Soar Amid Middle East Tensions

Florida's gas prices have surged in recent days due to global supply disruptions tied primarily to renewed conflicts in the Middle East. According to AAA, the average price of a gallon of gas in Florida is now at $4.28, up 14 cents from last week and $1.38 more per gallon than it was at the end of February.

The increase comes as global crude oil prices have risen by around 27 percent over the past three weeks, returning to $100 per barrel numbers not seen since May. AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins attributed the jump in gas prices to 'rising oil prices' and 'ongoing tensions in the Middle East,' which have created uncertainty about global oil supplies.

Pump averages for gas varied across different counties, ranging from $4.56 a gallon in Monroe County to $4.04 in Escambia and Bay counties. Meanwhile, diesel prices stood at $6.28 a gallon, decreasing by 3 cents over the week but increasing by 76 cents in the past month.
