FPIs Pull Out Rs 13,138 Crore from Indian Equities Amid Global Uncertainty
Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) withdrew Rs 13,138 crore from Indian equities in the first half of September due to global uncertainty and rising crude oil prices.
The outflow is primarily driven by increased risk aversion among investors, who are now focusing on safer assets with lower volatility. Brent crude surged to USD 109.97 per barrel last week, its highest level since July, amid heightened geopolitical tensions.
Vedant Gupte, Co-Founder and CEO of Trackk, pointed out that the September selling is largely a 'dollar-and-crude story', rather than an India-specific issue.
FPIs have now withdrawn a total of Rs 2.37 lakh crore from Indian equities so far in 2026, surpassing the Rs 1.66 lakh crore pulled out during the entire 2025.
