French Wheat Export Outlook Cut Amid Weather-Hit Crops
FranceAgriMer has revised its forecast for French soft wheat exports this season downward. The office now predicts that France will export 6.3 million metric tons of soft wheat to countries outside the European Union in 2026/27, down from a previous estimate of 7.0 million tons.
The reduction is due to lower harvest estimates and reduced stocks from last season. In addition, expected wheat use in livestock feed has risen.
For maize, FranceAgriMer projects ending stocks at 1.46 million tons, the lowest since 1996/97. The smallest maize crop since the 1970s is to blame, thanks to severe heat and drought this summer.
