Frontera Energy Completes Transformation to Infrastructure Operator
Frontera Energy Corporation (TSX:FEC) has undergone a significant transformation in its business model. The company, once known for its oil production in Colombia, has sold its upstream assets to Parex Resources and returned approximately C$8.34 per share, or around C$590 million in aggregate, to shareholders.
This strategic pivot now positions Frontera as an infrastructure operator focused on the ODL pipeline and Puerto Bahía port. The company holds a 99.97% interest in the deep-water port and liquids terminal and a 35% equity stake in the ODL pipeline.
The second-quarter 2026 results demonstrate the success of this transformation, with revenue increasing to $31.3 million from $25.5 million in the same period last year. Net income for the quarter was $29.0 million, despite a $4.0 million loss from continuing operations due to transaction-related and discontinued-operations items.
Puerto Bahía delivered record roll-on/roll-off volumes of 48,074 units in the quarter, while the ODL pipeline transported an average of 239,333 barrels per day, generating $16.6 million of net income attributable to Frontera's 35% stake.
