Global protests have erupted over soaring fuel prices amid the ongoing US-Iran conflict. The dispute has disrupted fuel supply, causing prices to skyrocket in the global market.

The price of crude oil exceeded $100 per barrel last week, with further actions against Iranian oil tankers and renewed conflict in Yemen increasing the risk to maritime trade through the Red Sea.

In Syria, protests have occurred in various places this week following a sharp increase in fuel prices. The Syrian government has increased the price of diesel to 175 Syrian Pounds per liter (approximately $1.43 USD), about 40 percent more than the previous price.

Protesters blocked roads and highways in Syria, while truck drivers and other groups blocked highways in Guatemala against the increase in fuel prices. In Portugal, businessmen and workers protested against expensive fuel and rising inflation, reaching the residence of Prime Minister Luís Montenegro in Espinho.
