Gas Prices Soar as UK Faces Winter Energy Crisis
Households in Britain are bracing themselves for higher energy bills this winter due to delays in natural gas stockpiling over the summer. Industry experts warn that storage levels of natural gas are below average, and wholesale prices have reached a three-year high.
The cost of heating homes may go up even more than expected, according to analysts. Capital Economics senior climate and commodities economist Hamad Hussain expects gas prices to top £68 (€80) by the end of this year.
Hamad Hussain said: 'The risks to gas prices are definitely tilted towards the upside.'
