GasLog Ships Targeted in Consecutive Attacks Across Middle East

A Greek shipping company, GasLog, owned by Peter Livanos, has been targeted in two consecutive attacks on its LNG ships within a span of five days. The first incident occurred on July 31 at the Strait of Hormuz, where the GasLog Shanghai was struck on its port side engine room, resulting in a fire and damage to the ship.

The vessel was carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) for QatarEnergy, having picked up the cargo from Qatar's Ras Laffan export terminal. Initial reports described an 'incident' without providing further details. However, released images revealed significant damage to the ship.

GasLog immediately activated its emergency response plan and notified authorities, confirming that all crew members were safe. The company also assessed the vessel's condition and determined that the cargo was not affected by the incident.

The second attack occurred in Egypt, targeting another GasLog LNG carrier. This has heightened concerns about maritime security, particularly for energy transport vessels navigating critical routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
