Geopolitics and Crude Oil Prices Set to Drive Indian Market Volatility
Investors in India are bracing for another volatile week as geopolitical tensions and crude oil prices take center stage. The Strait of Hormuz crisis, US-Iran standoff, and Brent crude prices will remain critical market drivers in the near term, according to analysts.
Ajit Mishra, SVP of Research at Religare Broking Ltd, noted that developments surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and Brent crude will be crucial for market movement. He added that the Federal Reserve's July meeting minutes will also be closely watched for signals on interest rates, as any indication of a more hawkish stance could weigh on emerging-market flows.
The US Fed's policy outlook is expected to influence investor sentiment, particularly with regards to crude oil prices. Brent crude prices have been rising due to ongoing tensions between the US and Iran, which has led to increased volatility in Indian equities.
