Ghalibaf Warns US Over Strait of Hormuz: No Oil Will Be Sold If Iran's Security Is Compromised

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a stern warning to the United States and other countries over the Strait of Hormuz, stating that if Iran's security is not ensured, 'no infrastructure will be safe'. Speaking during a public video conference on Tuesday, Ghalibaf reacted to recent statements by US President Donald Trump regarding the strait, calling them a repetition of previous claims.

Ghalibaf linked security in the region to the movement of oil, emphasizing that Iran would not allow its security to be compromised. 'In a region where we do not sell oil, no one will sell oil,' he said. He also drew parallels with the 1980 siege of Abadan, which was broken within 48 hours due to the planning and resistance of Iranian forces.

Ghalibaf's remarks came as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi concluded his programs and intensive diplomatic consultations in New York, where he held indirect talks with US officials through Qatari mediators. The US official stated that President Trump is willing to give Iran sanctions relief and release frozen funds as part of a final deal, but only if Tehran offers 'concrete progress' on the nuclear issue.

Ghalibaf warned the US that any aggression or adventurism would be met with a tough response from the Islamic Republic. 'The era of intimidation and threats to destroy this civilized nation is over,' he said.
