GNPC Gas Revenue Surges to $952 Million Amid Upstream Investments

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has seen its gas sales revenue skyrocket to $952 million in 2025, making it a major commercial driver for the corporation. According to GNPC's Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Finance, Commercial and Administration, Hamis Ussif, this development reflects the growing importance of gas to the corporation's operations and Ghana's wider energy economy.

Ussif emphasized that securing adequate and reliable gas supply is critical to Ghana's energy security, industrial development, and economic stability. He stated that gas contributed to power generation while reducing the country's reliance on more expensive liquid fuels, helping to conserve foreign exchange and support economic stability.

The GNPC and its partners have announced $3.5 billion in upstream investments expected to increase gas supply to the domestic market. The corporation is also working with partners to advance a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project targeted to commence operations by the end of 2027, with the potential to supply up to 400 million cubic feet of gas per day.
