Gold and Silver Prices Soar in India, Gold Hits ₹1.54 Lakh/10 gm
Gold and silver prices have continued to fluctuate this year, with gold becoming ₹21,000 more expensive so far in 2026. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold increased by ₹542 to reach ₹1.54 lakh today. Meanwhile, the price of one kilogram of silver rose by ₹3,307 to ₹2.39 lakh.
The prices have seen a significant increase from their December 2025 levels, where 10 grams of gold were priced at ₹1.33 lakh and one kilogram of silver was priced at ₹2.30 lakh. Gold has also hit an all-time high of ₹1.76 lakh on January 29.
Anindya Banerjee, Senior Vice President and Head of Commodity Research at Kotak Securities, believes that gold will remain bullish even in difficult circumstances ahead. He predicts that the price of gold could reach ₹1.70 lakh by December, while silver could also rise to ₹3 lakh. However, it is essential for consumers to keep certain factors in mind when buying gold from jewelers, such as verifying the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) hallmark and cross-checking prices.
