Gold Breakout: Bull Trap or New Support Zone?
The markets are full of surprises, and highly volatile instruments like Gold can reverse direction in a matter of minutes. The recent breakout above 4450 resistance on OANDA:XAUUSD was a notable development.
According to Bravetotrade, the thick bars indicating high volume at this break are generally a strong bullish signal. However, a pullback to the previous resistance, which may now act as support, could present an attractive opportunity for buyers.
This transformation is driven by market psychology. Traders who missed the initial breakout wait for a pullback to enter long positions at a better price. Meanwhile, short sellers who were trapped at the sudden breakout use the pullback to close their losing trades at breakeven, creating additional buying pressure.
Therefore, 4440-4450 becomes a critical zone. A downward move accompanied by heavy volume would be a warning sign to buy the dip. If the price breaks and sustains below 4430, then yesterday's breakout can likely be considered as a bull trap.
