Gold Holds Above $4,000 as US Jobless Claims Remain Below Key Threshold
The gold market has remained relatively stable in recent days, trading near the lower end of its range. Despite this stability, spot gold continues to hold above $4,000 an ounce.
The latest employment data from the U.S. Labor Department shows that initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose by 9,000 to a seasonally adjusted 197,000 for the week ending July 25. This figure is slightly below expectations, with consensus forecasts calling for 201,000 claims.
The previous week's reading was revised higher by 1,000 claims to 188,000. The gold market has shown little reaction to this latest employment data, with spot gold last trading at $4,077.20 an ounce, up 0.30% on the day.
