Gold prices held above $4,400 an ounce on September 3, after rising nearly 1% in the previous session. The price increase was driven by a weaker US dollar and lower Treasury yields, making gold more appealing as a non-yielding asset.

According to MCX data, gold traded 0.96% higher at Rs 1,53,861 per 10 grams, while silver rose 1.14% to trade at Rs 2,38,950 per kg.

The city-wise prices for gold and silver in India showed some variation, with Chennai recording the highest rate of Rs 1,54,540 for 24-carat gold and Rs 2,35,248 for a kilogram of silver.
