Gold and silver prices have seen an increase in India over the past week. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold rose by ₹8,257 to ₹1.61 lakh. Silver also saw a rise, increasing by ₹12,788 to ₹2.47 lakh per kg.

The current prices show that gold has become ₹28 thousand more expensive this year so far. On December 31, 2025, the price of 10g gold was at ₹1.33 lakh, which has now reached ₹1.61 lakh. Silver also saw a significant increase from ₹2.30 lakh per kg on December 31, 2025 to ₹2.47 lakh per kg.

Anindya Banerjee, Senior VP and Head of Commodity Research at Kotak Securities, believes that gold is supported by both common investors and central banks worldwide, including the RBI, who are continuously buying gold. He predicts that gold prices could reach up to ₹1.70 lakh by December, while silver may also see a surge.
