Gold Outshines Silver in Recent Recovery
Gold and silver prices have rebounded from recent pressure, but investors are still debating which precious metal offers better investment opportunities. Analysts point out that gold has stronger support, while silver is more vulnerable to volatility.
The recovery comes after a correction triggered by the Jackson Hole meeting, where Fed officials discussed inflation targets. The U.S. dollar and Treasury yields eased, making non-yielding assets like gold more attractive. A weaker dollar also makes metals priced in greenbacks cheaper for buyers holding other currencies.
According to Emkay Wealth Management, both metals have a strong long-term investment case. However, silver's sensitivity to industrial demand and market sentiment results in higher short-term volatility.
The firm estimates that gold has 12% upside potential, while silver may face resistance at $68 and $74 per ounce. Emkay believes that a shift towards a softer interest-rate environment could further strengthen the outlook for precious metals.
