The price of gold struggled to hold at Rs 1.54 lakh per 10 grams on Monday, hitting an intraday low of Rs 1,53,031 due to global weakness in bullion.

Spot gold eased by 0.44 percent to near $4,363 an ounce as crude oil prices climbed and the US dollar held firm near its strongest level of the week.

Univest's commodities desk is tracking the same global cues that moved Indian equities on Monday, since risk appetite improved as crude oil prices declined and global bond yields softened.

The desk expects gold to remain broadly range-bound into Tuesday, with a fresh move in the dollar index or US Treasury yields serving as a clearer trigger for a bigger swing.
