Gold Prices Fall Amid Prolonged Rate Expectations, Platinum Surges
Spot gold prices fell by 0.4% to $4,325.03 per ounce on September 22 as markets adjusted their expectations for a prolonged period of high US interest rates.
This decline came despite platinum rising by 0.7% to $1,810.81 per ounce and palladium falling by 1.1% to $1,286.91 per ounce.
The diverging movements of these precious metals indicate that interest-rate expectations, the dollar, and oil-driven inflation concerns remain the dominant factors driving prices in this sector.
