Gold Prices Hold Firm as Global Uncertainty and Dollar Weakening Support Demand

Gold prices in India remained high on Monday, August 24, with 24-carat gold selling at ₹1,62,289 per 10 grams and 22-carat gold at ₹1,48,656.72 per 10 grams.

The international market also saw a surge in gold prices, reaching a more than three-month high on the same day, according to Reuters.

Experts attribute this trend to continued uncertainty in global markets, a weaker US dollar making gold more attractive to buyers using other currencies, and expectations of lower interest rates, which can make non-yielding assets like gold more appealing.

Central banks' continued purchases have also provided support to demand, with the World Gold Council reporting healthy volumes of central bank buying in the first half of 2026.
