Gold Prices Plummet in Bangladesh Amid BAJUS Price Cut

The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced a price reduction for gold in the local bullion market on August 7, 2026. The new prices will take effect starting from Friday, August 7.

The highest quality 22-carat gold, weighing 11.664 grams per bhori, has seen its price reduced by 3,266 taka, now priced at BDT 2,29,664. Similarly, the price of 21-carat gold per bhori has been reduced by 3,149 taka, and traditional (Sonaton) gold per bhori has been reduced by 2,916 taka.

The detailed prices for each type of gold are as follows: 22 Carat (11.664 grams) Gold Price: BDT 2,29,664; 21 Carat (11.664 grams) Gold Price: BDT 2,19,342; and 18 Carat (11.664 grams) Gold Price: BDT 1,88,374.

Buyers must pay more than the set price when purchasing gold jewelry due to a 5% VAT added to the fixed price for selling gold ornaments, along with a minimum making charge of BDT 3,500 per 'bhori' applied.
