Gold prices plummeted by ₹1,600 to ₹1.52 lakh per 10 grams in India's national capital on Thursday, extending its losing streak for a fourth consecutive session.

The decline was attributed to a stronger US dollar and higher crude oil prices, which weighed heavily on the precious metal.

Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst of Commodities at HDFC Securities, noted that domestic gold prices edged lower amid weak global cues and subdued retail demand.

In overseas markets, spot gold fell USD 33.74, or nearly 1 per cent, to USD 4,253.61 per ounce, while silver depreciated by 1.4 per cent to USD 63.56 an ounce.
