Gold Prices Steady Despite Stronger Dollar and Higher Yields
Gold and silver prices remained steady on September 25, despite recent pressure from a stronger US dollar and higher Treasury yields. COMEX gold rose 0.66% to $4,326.50 an ounce, while COMEX silver gained 0.43% to $64.280 an ounce.
The modest gains come as markets weigh geopolitical tensions in the West Asia against expectations around US interest rates. Oil prices eased slightly on Friday after a sharp rise in the previous session.
Analysts Aamir Makda and Ashish Rajodiya pointed out that recent pressure on gold was due to a stronger US dollar and Treasury yields, while also noting that geopolitical risks are competing with rate outlook as drivers for bullion. The US dollar index had climbed to around 101, while the US 10-year Treasury yield moved closer to 5.11%.
