Gold prices in India remained high on Monday, October 5, as global economic uncertainty and shifting interest rate expectations kept bullion markets elevated. According to the latest data, 24-carat gold was priced at approximately ₹1,49,540 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold stood at around ₹1,37,078 per 10 grams. Silver, meanwhile, was trading near ₹2,26,770 per kilogram.
Prices varied across major cities. In Mumbai, 24-carat gold was available at ₹1,49,270 per 10 grams, while in New Delhi, it was priced at ₹1,49,010 per 10 grams. Bengaluru saw 24-carat gold at ₹1,49,380 per 10 grams, and Chennai reported one of the higher rates at ₹1,49,700 per 10 grams. Gold and silver futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) remained active, with gold futures trading around ₹1,48,000 per 10 grams and silver futures near ₹2,26,000 per kg. Analysts noted that bullion prices are influenced by global geopolitical developments, movements in the US dollar, and expectations surrounding interest-rate decisions. Gold tends to attract investor demand during periods of uncertainty.
Retail jewellery prices may differ from benchmark bullion rates due to factors like GST, making charges, taxes, and jeweller-specific premiums. Market participants are watching upcoming economic data, central-bank policy signals, and geopolitical developments for further direction in precious-metal prices.
