Gold Prices Surge in India Amid Global Uncertainties
Gold prices in India rose on August 5, 2026, due to strong demand for bullion as investors sought safe-haven assets amid global uncertainties. The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) quoted gold futures at ₹1,45,370 per 10 grams, up 0.78%, while silver futures increased by 1.08% to ₹2,24,570 per kg.
The retail market saw prices of 24K gold increase to ₹14,575 per gram, 22K gold to ₹13,360 per gram, and 18K gold to ₹10,931 per gram. Silver rates also rose, with a price of ₹240 per gram or ₹2,40,000 per kg.
The weaker US dollar sentiment continued to support bullion prices, while investors tracked the RBI policy and US Federal Reserve signals. Safe-haven demand remained strong, driven by global uncertainties and geopolitical tensions.
