The prices of gold and silver in India experienced a sharp decline on July 28, according to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). The price of 24-carat gold dropped by ₹1,907 per 10 grams, bringing it down to ₹1.43 lakh per 10 gm.

Silver prices also fell significantly, declining by ₹6,543 per kilogram, which brought the rate down to ₹2.18 lakh per kg.

Notably, despite this latest fall, gold prices have shown significant volatility throughout 2026. Since the beginning of the year, gold has still gained around ₹10,000 per 10 grams.

Ajay Kedia, a commodity expert, said that gold and silver prices have corrected considerably from their peak levels, making them attractive for long-term investors. However, he cautioned against making lump-sum investments and suggested investing gradually.
