The Goldman Sachs Physical Gold ETF (AAAU) has seen its net asset value decline in Q2, tracking the slide of gold prices. According to the latest financial report filed with the SEC for the period ended June 30, 2026, the fund's net assets decreased by $143,677,532 compared to the same period last year. The decline in net assets is largely due to a decrease in the value of its investment in gold.
The ETF's investment in gold at fair value was $2,400,232,142 as of June 30, 2026, down from $2,542,909,779 at the end of December 2025. This represents a depreciation of $142,677,637 or 5.63% over the six-month period. The decrease in gold prices has resulted in a net loss for the fund, with total expenses amounting to $2,545,199 and a net investment loss of $2,545,199.
The sponsor fee payable was $380,832 as of June 30, 2026, representing an increase from the previous period's $380,937. The number of shares issued and outstanding remained relatively stable at 60,455,722 compared to 59,804,722 in December 2025.
