Hamid Bovard Takes Over as Iran’s Acting Oil Minister
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has appointed Hamid Bovard as the acting Minister of Oil, following the resignation of Mohsen Paknejad. The presidential decree, citing Bovard’s competence and executive experience, tasked him with fulfilling the government’s goals and addressing the country’s challenges. Bovard, a veteran of Iran’s oil industry, previously served as Deputy Minister of Oil and CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company.
Bovard emphasized continuity in the oil industry’s executive programs, particularly in production and development sectors. He highlighted the need for rebuilding damaged facilities and navigating upcoming challenges, stressing the importance of national unity and cooperation. He also noted the critical role of the petrochemical industry in bolstering foreign currency revenues and supporting the economy.
Regarding winter fuel supply, Bovard assured that liquid fuel storage is adequate but urged the public to cooperate in energy conservation to prevent shortages. He called for a 10 percent reduction in gas consumption to mitigate infrastructure damage caused by external threats.
