Hormuz Crisis Delays QatarEnergy Expansion Projects

QatarEnergy's expansion projects may face delays due to the crisis over the Strait of Hormuz, according to CEO Saad al-Kaabi. He stated that critical equipment is unable to reach Qatar, resulting in only a 'very minute' volume of liquefied natural gas being produced. The North Field East (NFE) expansion has some LNG trains set to start up in 2027, while the North Field South (NFS) expansion is scheduled to begin production in 2028.

Qatari LNG volumes are significant, and Kaabi believes that buyers will find it difficult to ignore them once the crisis ends. The company's large gas reserves make them a major player in the market, and their output is expected to remain substantial despite the current delays.
