Hormuz Oil Shipments Reach Six-Month High Amid Global Market Squeeze
Oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz have reached a six-month high in recent weeks, according to US Commander Admiral Brad Cooper.
Cooper said that the primary transit lanes are clear of mines and Persian Gulf allies have shipped over 1 billion barrels of crude through the strait 'in the last couple months.'
The surge in shipments comes as the global oil market faces a squeeze due to drone attacks linked to the Iran war, which halted a Saudi Arabian pipeline bypassing the strait.
Saudi Arabia's energy infrastructure has come under renewed attack from the Houthis, an Iran-backed group based in Yemen, with one attack causing a death and several injuries in Taif on Thursday.
