Hormuz Strait Shipping Traffic Remains Below 10-Day Average Amid Ongoing Tensions

Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remained below its 10-day average on Tuesday, according to preliminary data from shiptracker Kpler. Three commodity vessels transited the strait, down from four a day earlier.

The vessels included one Panamax tanker, which was exiting the strait. However, one liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker, Al Mafyar, reappeared inside the strait on Tuesday after being last seen outside on September 19.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway that carried about a fifth of the world's oil and gas before the US-Iran conflict. The data may change as some ships typically switch off their transponders during voyages.
