Houthi Attack on Riyadh Raises Oil Price Risk Premium
On Monday, September 21, Brent crude oil futures opened slightly higher, reaching $103.56 per barrel before settling around $103 per barrel.
The price movement came after a Houthi ballistic missile attack on Riyadh, which was intercepted by Saudi air defenses.
Saudi civil defense authorities issued nighttime telephone alerts warning that Riyadh and Al-Kharj might be subjected to air strikes last Saturday.
Despite no casualties or damage reported, the incident marks the first time Riyadh has been targeted since the latest Saudi-Houthi escalation.
