Houthi Rebels Launch Major Attack on Saudi Oil Facilities

Saudi Arabia was attacked by Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen on Tuesday, targeting oil and other infrastructure in southwestern Saudi Arabia. The attacks caused fires at several facilities in the southern region, temporarily halting some operations.

The Saudi-led forces vowed a resolute response, saying dozens of civilians had been injured in the assault. At least 73 people, including women and children, were among those wounded, according to Major General Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led Coalition Forces.

The Houthi military claimed the attacks were in response to more than 100 Saudi airstrikes in Yemen over the past three days that they claimed had killed many people. The Houthis fired 'dozens of ballistic missiles and drones' at civilian and economic sites in the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran.

Saudi Arabia's regional allies swiftly condemned the attacks, with Egypt describing them as 'a dangerous escalation', Jordan calling it 'a blatant violation of Saudi sovereignty,' and Qatar saying they showed 'unacceptable disregard for civilian lives.'
