Houthis Claim Responsibility for Missile Attack on Saudi Arabia
The Iranian-backed Houthis have claimed responsibility for a missile attack on Saudi Arabia, following a series of air strikes by Riyadh against Houthi targets in Yemen. According to the Ansarollah media, which is linked to the Houthi group, a 'Yemeni missile strike' caused fires in the Saudi city of Jizan. The Houthis had vowed retaliation after Saudi Arabia launched air strikes on Hodeida and a nearby island on Friday.
The US military has been carrying out airstrikes against Iran for 13 consecutive nights, with no reports of overnight attacks in the wider region. However, there were concerns about new threats to shipping in the Red Sea from Yemen's Houthis, which pushed the price of crude oil back over $100 a barrel this week.
The US has also disabled two commercial ships attempting to evade its blockade on Iranian ports, including one vessel that was attacked by the US military in the Gulf of Oman. The situation remains tense, with President Trump continuing to threaten further attacks while saying negotiations are ongoing.
