Houthis Seize Yemen's Mocha, Tighten Grip on Critical Shipping Route

The Houthis have taken control of Yemen's port city of Mocha, further tightening their grip on the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and Red Sea shipping routes.

This strategic gain for the Iran-aligned Houthis comes just hours after President Donald Trump said he expected the Iran war to end after the midterm elections.

The Houthis have been advancing down the Red Sea coast, reaching the islands of Hanish and gaining leverage over one of the world's most important shipping routes, which is also a major transit corridor for crude oil and fuel from the Gulf bound for the Mediterranean.
