Houthis Strike Saudi Aramco Sites Amid Rising Yemen Conflict
Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for strikes on key Saudi Aramco facilities in Riyadh and Khurais, as tensions escalate in the region. The group's spokesperson, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced the attacks via a Telegram statement, framing them as retaliation for ongoing Saudi aggression in Yemen.
Saree detailed that the Houthis carried out two operations using ballistic missiles and drones, targeting Aramco sites in Riyadh and Khurais. He asserted that both strikes were successful, causing significant fires at the targeted locations. The attacks were described as a response to what the Houthis called a surge in Saudi airstrikes, with over 50 strikes in the past 12 hours alone, bringing the total to 1,460 since the latest escalation began.
The Houthi spokesperson warned that the group would continue its operations against Saudi military and oil facilities until the aggression against Yemen ends. He emphasized the group's commitment to maintaining a strategy of 'siege for siege and escalation for escalation' until the conflict is resolved and the siege on Yemen is lifted.
The claims come amid intensified fighting in Yemen, with the Houthis reporting further Saudi airstrikes across multiple governorates and vowing additional retaliatory attacks on Saudi targets.
