Houthis Strike Saudi Oil Facilities as US Suspends Airstrikes on Iran

The Houthi rebels in Yemen have launched an attack on Saudi Arabia's oil facilities on the Red Sea coast. The strike hit two locations, Jizan and Yanbu, where Saudi Aramco operates.

According to Reuters, the US did not carry out airstrikes on Iran for the first time in two weeks following the Iranian attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. A senior US official stated that President Trump has always preferred diplomacy but made it clear what would happen if Iran does not negotiate seriously.

The Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, announced successful strikes on Saudi facilities, claiming they hit Aramco's refinery in Jizan. In Yanbu, however, two ballistic missiles aimed at oil facilities were intercepted by the US Patriot system operated by Greek military personnel as part of cooperation with Saudi Arabia.

The conflict has escalated further, with Yemeni government forces backed by Saudi Arabia striking Houthi missile and drone launchers, as well as weapons depots in Marib and Al-Jawf provinces. Both sides are building up forces along the front line, increasing the risk of further escalation.
