Houthis Strike Saudi Oil Tanker in Red Sea Blockade

Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for attacking a Saudi oil tanker in the Red Sea, as part of their declared maritime blockade of the country. The group said they successfully targeted the 'Wafa' oil tanker off the coast of Yanbu with ballistic missiles.

This was reportedly the eighth ship to be targeted by the Houthis since the start of the blockade on July 22. According to the rebels, the attack was a response to Saudi Arabia's ongoing military campaign in Yemen.

The Houthis' military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said in a video statement that the group had successfully targeted the tanker with a number of ballistic missiles. The incident has raised concerns about the stability of global oil supplies and the potential for further escalation in the region.
