Houthis Target Saudi Airports and Oil Sites in Retaliatory Strikes
Yemen’s Houthi group launched a series of coordinated missile and drone strikes on Saudi Arabia, targeting key infrastructure. The attacks, announced by Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree on Monday evening, hit King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, a refinery owned by state oil giant Aramco in Rabigh, and Abha International Airport, among other sites.
Saree claimed the strikes involved ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles. He asserted that the attack on King Khalid International Airport disrupted air traffic, while the strike on the Aramco refinery ignited a fire. Additional targets included military bases in the southern Asir region and other 'sensitive sites' in Najran and Jazan.
The Houthi spokesman stated the operations were in retaliation for 60 Saudi airstrikes and missile attacks over the previous 24 hours against Yemen. He also warned international airlines to suspend flights through Saudi airspace, except over Mecca and Medina, citing the operational range of the group’s missiles. Saudi authorities had not responded to the claims at the time of reporting.
