Houthis Target Saudi Oil Facilities Amid Escalating Conflict
The Houthi movement in Yemen launched strikes on Saudi oil installations at two Red Sea ports on Saturday, according to Reuters.
The group targeted Aramco facilities in Jazan and Yanbu, claimed Yahya Saree, the Houthi military spokesman. Two Asia-based trade sources reported possible damage at fuel and oil storage sites in Jazan.
In response, Yemeni officials said government warplanes carried out airstrikes on Houthi missile launch sites, drone bases, and weapons depots in Marib and al-Jawf provinces.
The Saudi-led coalition had announced air raids against Houthi military positions in Hodeidah the day before. The Houthis last week declared a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia, with leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi warning that all Saudi oil and vital infrastructure would be considered targets if Riyadh escalated its involvement in the conflict.
