Houthis Target Saudi Oil Transport Sites Amid Escalating Tensions
On July 27, 2026, Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis claimed to have targeted sensitive crude oil supply and transport sites in eastern Saudi Arabia, linking them to the Red Sea oil export hub of Yanbu.
The operation was reportedly a response to what Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree described as Saudi drone incursions into Yemeni airspace.
Saudi Arabia has rerouted its crude output to Yanbu via an east-west pipeline, avoiding Iranian attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz that began after the U.S. and Israel launched a war on Iran in February.
