Hyderabad's Shift Towards Piped Gas Accelerates Amid LPG Supply Disruptions
Hyderabad residents are increasingly turning to domestic piped natural gas (PNG) as concerns over LPG cylinder bookings and deliveries continue to rise. The number of enquiries for new PNG connections has surged from five to six per day to around 60-70, according to officials.
The shift is partly driven by disruptions in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, which have added uncertainty to fuel supplies. In response, households are seeking a more convenient alternative to avoid cylinder bookings, waiting periods, and delivery-related uncertainty.
Many residents already have access to PNG infrastructure but had continued using LPG cylinders out of habit. However, with consumers increasingly looking for continuous household gas supply, more residents are activating their existing PNG connections.
