Hydrogen-on-Demand Tech May Be Key to Europe's Energy Security

Europe's energy security has become a pressing concern as gas storage levels have fallen to historically low levels for late July, raising fears that the region could enter winter with reserves below the five-year average.

Rick Parish, founder of Kinetic7 Technologies, believes hydrogen-on-demand systems can play a major role in future-proofing clean gas supplies and improving resilience for communities and businesses exposed to volatile energy markets.

Kinetic7's proprietary technology produces hydrogen gas on demand at the point of use, removing much of the cost and infrastructure associated with conventional production methods. The company has developed two portable cooking stoves, Nomad and Tribe, which can be rapidly deployed into disaster zones when critical infrastructure and power supplies are disrupted.

The HODBox, a commercial unit adapted from the portable technology, can provide clean gas for large-scale catering operations at a fraction of the cost of current natural gas supplies. Kinetic7 is also working on a prototype for the residential market, targeting off-grid households first.
