Idaho Gas Prices Soar Past $5 as Global Conflict Drives Up Costs

The average price of regular gasoline in Idaho has jumped to $4.96 per gallon, up 10 cents from Monday's prices. According to AAA Idaho, this marks a significant increase over the past month, with prices rising by 47 cents compared to last month and $1.44 higher than the same time last year.

Several major cities in Idaho have now exceeded the $5 per gallon mark, including Boise ($5.04), Idaho Falls ($5.00), Pocatello ($5.02), and Twin Falls ($5.02). The state's largest city, Boise, saw a 17-cent overnight increase in gas prices.

The average price for diesel fuel has reached $6.59 per gallon, the highest recorded by AAA Idaho to date. This spike is attributed to global conflict putting pressure on crude oil prices and affecting refining costs.

AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde warned that market instability could continue in the short term, advising consumers to follow their vehicle's fuel grade requirements and avoid purchasing higher-grade gasoline unless necessary.
