IGU Hosts Global Energy Summit in Hong Kong with Focus on Sustainable Future

The International Gas Union (IGU) is set to host its 2026 Council Meeting and 'Empowering a Sustainable Future' Summit in Hong Kong from October 26-29. The event will bring together leaders of major global energy corporations, regional government officials, experts, scholars, and representatives of international organisations to discuss global energy security, the transition to a green and low-emission economy, and sustainable development.

The IGU Council Meeting is expected to draw over 70 countries, representing more than 90% of the global gas market. The summit will feature keynote speeches by HKSAR Government officials and global industry leaders, as well as roundtable discussions on topics such as regional energy development, green finance, and the challenges faced by and prospects for the global and regional natural gas industry.

Towngas, Hong Kong's longest-standing public utility and one of its largest energy suppliers, will host the event in partnership with the IGU. Towngas Managing Director Peter Wong Wai-yee expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the summit, stating that it would provide a platform for the global industry to build networks, share experiences, and foster dialogue.
