India Confirms Diesel Exports Will Continue Amid Global Supply Crunch
India's Oil Minister Hardeep Puri announced that the country will continue to export diesel to meet global demand, despite rising fuel prices and supply chain disruptions. The decision is a key part of India's strategy to expand its refining capacity and become a major player in the global energy market.
Puri pointed out that India's refining capacity has increased significantly over the past few years, reaching 5.36 million barrels per day (bpd) today. This figure is expected to rise to 5.8 million bpd by next year, and then 6.4 million bpd by 2032.
Several countries have recently faced severe fuel shortages due to declining refining capacity and supply chain disruptions. The United States has considered banning diesel exports, but India will continue to meet its international commitments. 'We honor our commitments,' Puri stated.
