India is exploring the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a key supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG), Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal announced. The move comes amid geopolitical uncertainty and disruptions to global shipping routes, he said.

Goyal made the statement after the 14th meeting of the India-UAE High Level Joint Task Force on Investments. He noted that a study is underway to examine whether underwater ocean pipelines could be used to bring gas into the country and store it.

The potential expansion of the UAE's role in India's LPG and LNG supply chain is part of efforts to strengthen energy resilience and security, Goyal said. He also mentioned that the two countries are working towards increasing UAE investments in India to $100 billion from around $25 billion currently.
