India Mandates Daily LPG Target of 63.81 KTPD
The Indian government has set a daily LPG production target of 63.81 KTPD (thousand metric tonnes per day) for 24 refinery and upstream oil companies to strengthen domestic cooking-gas supplies.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas issued an order on August 13, specifying production levels for public-sector refineries, private-sector companies, and upstream companies.
Reliance Industries has the highest LPG production potential at 18 KTPD, followed by BPCL's Kochi refinery at 4.80 KTPD and Nayara Energy at 4.48 KTPD.
The order amends the Petroleum Products (Maintenance of Production, Storage and Supply) Order, 1999, and introduces operational directions for LPG production and supply.
Companies will be required to implement technically and economically viable measures to maximise LPG output beyond their existing minimum producible quantities.
